Of course equipment is a seperate cost. The club can lend the use of equipment whilst in the pool but when it comes to completion of the training in open water you will need to
get your own equipment. Costs can be from £600 for 2nd hand and from £1000 upwards for new.
Wigston Pool Re-Development
As you may be aware our home for many many years, Wigston Swimming Pool was closed on the 1st April 2014 after nearly 50 years of service!
During the re-development which will last from 12-18 months Oadby and Wigston Council and SLM ltd
We will have sole use of the pool almost every* Saturday from 12th April from 17.00 - 18.00 and also use of a teaching room from 18.00 - 19.00.
We will also have storage to enable us to keep our cylinders and equipment which means we can
continue to teach new members in the poolup to the time they are ready to be tested in the open water.
* Due to swimming galas we will not be able to use the pool on the following dates in 2014......
Why not Oadby?
Obviously Oadby would have been better in regards to distance...
However, Oadby is also due to be demolished once the new pool at Parklands is built which
means we would of had to move again but the main issue was that Oadby does not
have any storage facility for our equipment which means we could not
have offered pool training as readily as we would have liked, where in Hinckley this is available.
Oadby is also quite a small pool as well as shallow. Hinckley offers a larger pool and best of all its Deeper!!!!
Del-Mar's club night is Tuesday. Has this now changed?
No! Club night has always been Tuesday and will continue to be so. We may not have a pool on Tuesday
at the moment but theres always the pub!
We can also do some of the non pool training there too before meeting at Hinckley on Saturday for pool night.
